What I've learned in the last couple of weeks is that it can be a pain in the butt to have someone else with the same name as yours get those fifteen minutes.
For those of you that don't know about it, the mayor of Toronto, Canada is also named Rob Ford. Worse, he has been in the news recently as a confessed crack cocaine user and illegal drug purchaser.
At first, it was just weird watching the nightly news and hearing Brian Williams say MY name out loud. I knew he was talking about some other guy, but I wondered what the people that had heard or new of me were thinking.
Well, for a few weeks now, I have been hearing from people, far and wide, and explaining to them that I am not THAT guy.
"No such thing as bad publicity" is the advertiser's mantra.
Well, for me, Rob Ford of Toronto, Canada can't become yesterday's news fast enough. Unfortunately, I don't think that is going to be the case.
Personally, I'm just going to work that much harder to keep my part of the "brand" name upfront and clean, even when my Canadian namesake is doing anything but.
